Matilda by Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl’s Matilda is a classic for a reason.

I don’t think I need to write a summary, because, you know, it’s Matilda.
But I will.
In a nutshell, Matilda is the story of a very special little girl. She is gifted in reading and maths.
Matilda is misunderstood by her parents who prefer to spend their time infront of the tele.
Matilda starts a school that has a kind teacher, friends but there is a cruel principal.
Matilda comes to realise that she has some telekinetic powers so she turns the tables on the adults in her life and plays some tricks on them!

Once you’ve read the book, (or listened to it) we have a few activity ideas you could do!

Write a book review.

Book reviews come in many different shapes and sizes.
Choose a format that will interest your child, maybe try writing it is a newspaper article or as a recommendation to a friend
‘I read this super book the other day and I think you would like it too…’

Do a character study.

It could be something simple like this one, get the kids to use evidence from the book…

Or ask the children to complete something a bit more difficult like this Venn Diagram below!
