Who said crumble had to be a sweet treat?
Make a savoury crumble for dinner
Yes. Today I am bringing you a savoury crumble recipe that will delight the entire family.
To make this delicious Spinach and Ricotta Crumble you will need :
For the filling
500g fresh spinach
2 yellow onions
2 pinches pepper
2 tbsp of olive oil
1 pinch salt
Leeks are also a great addition to this recipe. If you fancy it you can add one chopped leeks.
For the crumble
50g chilled semi salted butter (if you find this to not be enough you can add some more)
50g pine nuts
1 tsp thyme
2 pinches of pepper
Get your chef hat on
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
Cut the butter in small pieces.
Put all the ingredients for the crumble in a bowl and mix with your fingers until it has a sand texture.
Put in the fridge.
Rinse and dry the spinach.
Heat the oil in the pan and cook the onions until golden. If you are using leeks, cook these along with the onions.
Add the spinach and leave for a few minutes.
Mix in the ricotta, salt and pepper.
Spread this mixture into the bottom of a casserole dish.
Sprinkle the crumble mixture on top and cook for around 30 minutes until the crumble is golden.
Note : My recipe is very similar to this one from Sainsbury Magazine, so I reckon I’ve just adapted their recipe to suit my own preferences over the years.
